How Wooga cares for its monsters - Video from Build 0.6
We are happy to introduce Stephanie Kaiser as HackFwd’s latest referrer. Stephanie brings with her stellar knowledge in the area of social games and product management, and we were very honored to have her give a talk at our last Build event.
Stephanie presented learnings from Wooga’s hit game Monster World, where adorable monsters grow weird and wonderful plants for fun and profit.
The key topics of her talk are Engagement, Virality and Monetization, and importantly, she says, in that order. In Virality, share-worthiness and click-worthiness are trackable, actionable dimensions that Wooga is interested in. In Monetization, Stephanie introduces a few small changes in pricing and promotions that result in a 24% increase in the revenue of a key product.
The theme running through the talk is the amount of A/B testing that can be done in games for all key topics. Backed by performance metrics everywhere, Stephanie’s talk is packed with learnings especially for game developers, but the content should be inspiring to all B2C startups.
Finally, Stephanie tells how Wooga manages projects with a special combination of Kanban and Scrum and constantly conducts usability testing in-house. And how important it is to care about your monsters.
