Phase 2 Generator
Today, we would like to present you with a new tool we’ve developed at HackFwd. We call it the Phase 2 Generator. Go to any pitching event, startup weekend or investor meeting room and what is the one question you must be prepared to answer about your startup? “What’s the business model?”
Since we spend a lot of time at HackFwd looking at business models, we wanted to create our own tool that lets anyone with an idea generate their own business model. We use the tool as one way to evaluate how a potential HackBox has thought through their business. Because we like the discussions which follow, we thought we could contribute to the startup community by making this tool public.
Anyone can now create an account on phase2generator.com and generate a business model. The phase2generator is actually a learning experience where anyone considering starting a business could benefit from the exercise. We have included educational content and links along the way to help you think through and challenge yourself throughout the different parts of the business model.
Since the launch of HackFwd back in June of 2010, we’ve explained the way to get in to the programme is to connect with someone in the HackFwd community who is willing to support your application. You can read more about that in a previous post – Our Virtual Door. However, starting now – if you can’t figure out a way to contact someone in the community you can also use the Phase 2 Generator to apply to HackFwd. While having a Referral will increase the speed of review and higher likelihood of an investment meeting, you can submit now without a Referrer and we will still review your idea. You can also use the tool just for your own planning purposes. You can choose to keep your idea and your business model completely private, and it will never get to HackFwd or anyone else. But if it’s a good idea, that would be a shame.
